STEP ONE

Getting everyone's birthday in
is the only chore. We made it small.

Pick whichever way fits your team, mix them, or change your mind later. Clipsus only ever needs the month and the day. Never the year.

📋

Paste a list you already have

Birthdays living in a spreadsheet or your HR system? Export three columns, email, month, day, then paste them into Clipsus or upload the file.

Clipsus matches every email to the right person in Slack and shows you any it couldn't place, so nothing slips through quietly.

Best when the list already exists and rarely changes.
📊

Keep a Google Sheet in charge

Point Clipsus at a Google Sheet with the same three columns. It reads the sheet once a day: add a new hire to the sheet and they're covered, take someone off and Clipsus lets you know.

The sheet only needs "anyone with the link can view" turned on. Clipsus reads it and never writes to it.

Best when someone in HR or operations already maintains a list.
✍️

Add people one at a time

Pick a person, pick the month and day, done. Clipsus lets them know their birthday is in, so there are no surprises.

Handy for the occasional new hire, or for fixing a date that came in wrong.

Best when the team is small, or you just need a quick fix.
Whichever way you choose, everyone can always add or change their own. Each person has a Set my birthday button inside the Clipsus app in Slack. During setup you can also post a friendly hello in your channel with an Add your birthday button.

Not sure which? Start here.

"We don't have a list."
Let Clipsus ask everyone.
"It's in a spreadsheet or our HR system."
Paste it once. If it changes often, keep a Google Sheet in charge instead.
"We're eight people."
Add them one at a time, or let Clipsus ask. Either takes minutes.

You can switch methods any time in settings. Birthdays already added stay put.

What happens to a birthday once it's in.

🎂

It's celebrated

A shout-out in your channel on the day, a group card everyone signs beforehand, and a private channel to plan the gift, if you've turned those on.

🔒

Month and day only

Clipsus never asks for the year, so nobody's age is stored or shown anywhere.

✏️

Anyone can change theirs

Fix a date, remove it, or opt out of being celebrated altogether, straight from the Clipsus app.

🗑️

It stays yours

Birthdays are used only to run celebrations in your workspace, and deleted 30 days after you remove the app.

Questions people ask.

Will Clipsus keep messaging people who don't answer?

No. It asks at most three times, at least a day apart, on weekdays during working hours. Pressing No thanks stops the asks straight away.

What if an email in my list doesn't match anyone in Slack?

Clipsus shows you exactly which rows it couldn't place. Fix the email in your list, or add that person by hand.

Can we use more than one method?

Yes. Paste last year's list today and let Clipsus ask everyone else, or keep a sheet in charge and still let people add their own.

Does it work with our HR system?

Any HR system can export a spreadsheet, and that's all Clipsus needs. Direct connections to HR systems aren't available yet; if that's a must for you, tell us which one.

Do you need anyone's birth year?

Never. The month and day are enough to celebrate, and it means nobody's age is ever stored.

Someone doesn't want their birthday celebrated. Now what?

They can opt out from the Clipsus app, and admins can remove anyone's birthday. Nobody has to explain themselves.

The rest takes care of itself.

Add the birthdays once. Clipsus handles every celebration from then on.
